Marco Adly is an Egyptian-Canadian Filmmaker currently based in New York City. He was born in Cairo and grew up in Mississauga, a suburb of Toronto. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Waterloo and has worked at design firms in both Canada and Europe. He has also worked as a junior set designer on studio television shows.
In 2022, he enrolled in NYU’s Graduate Film program, where he’s currently in his last year. As a first-generation immigrant, Marco’s work explores themes of liminality and otherness. His filmmaking practice extends across genres and modes of fiction and non-fiction filmmaking. He aims to create work inluenced by world and art-house cinema for a mainstream audience.
